“The Spelling Sonnet”

The Spelling Sonnet

The English conceder it an art

The Americans tere it a part

The teechers lik to corect it

While the stoodents a temp to lern it

Riters use it to liv bye

While sum wood rather dye

Than to undar stand the meening

Of using corect speling

I sum times feal

Tat this spellang things is unreel

Who cars how it’s wrot

As long as it sonds like its spoke

But we are a society filled with rules

That dictates that a mis-speller is a fool

I can relate… Being ever so slightly dyslectic. I never got the diagnose, but I’ll be damned if I don’t have just that. (There are other ways to succeed then trough ordinary “parroting” in the school (writing and reading just what one is supposed to, and regurgitate just what some teachers plan wanted us to learn)… (Though, honestly speaking, some of my teachers were fantastic… 🙂 )
